When patching a roof stops making sense, a complete re-roof is the most cost-effective way to protect your home for decades. We strip the old covering back to the rafters, inspect and repair the timbers, and build the new roof up properly: breathable membrane, treated battens, and your choice of tile or slate fixed to current standards.

Every re-roof we do includes modern mechanically fixed ridge and verge systems as standard where suitable, so there is no mortar to crack and wash out in a few winters. That matters on the East Kent coast, where wind-driven rain and salt air are hard on a roof.

Signs you need new roofs & re-roofing

  • Tiles slipping or cracking in several places at once, every winter
  • Daylight visible in the loft, or damp patches on rafters and insulation
  • Old bitumen felt that is torn, brittle or sagging between rafters
  • Nail fatigue: tiles sliding because the original nails have rusted through
  • Sagging or uneven roof line, suggesting tired battens or timbers
  • Repeated repairs that keep costing money without fixing the problem

Your new roofs & re-roofing options

Concrete interlocking tiles

Hard-wearing, economical and quick to lay. A wide range of profiles and colours to suit most homes.

Clay plain tiles

The traditional Kent look. Beautiful, long-lasting and often required on period and conservation properties.

Natural slate

Elegant, extremely durable and lightweight. Spanish and Welsh slate available to suit your budget.

Fibre cement & synthetic slate

The slate look at a lower cost and weight, ideal where the structure needs a lighter covering.

How we work

  1. Free survey

We inspect the roof and loft, discuss tile or slate options, and explain exactly what is needed.

  2. Clear written quote

An itemised quote with no hidden extras, including scaffolding, skips and waste removal.

  3. Scaffold & protect

Safe scaffolding goes up and we protect your garden, paths and driveway.

  4. Strip & inspect

Old coverings come off. Any rotten timbers are repaired or replaced before anything goes back on.

  5. Build it back properly

Breathable membrane, treated battens, new tiles or slates, flashings, dry ridge and dry verge.

  6. Clean up & sign off

Every bit of waste is removed. We walk you round the finished roof before the scaffold comes down.

Why it is worth doing properly

  • Decades of trouble-free protection for your home
  • Better ventilation reduces condensation in the loft
  • Low-maintenance dry fix ridge and verge as standard
  • Adds kerb appeal and value when you come to sell
  • Chance to upgrade loft insulation while the roof is open

New Roofs & Re-Roofing: frequently asked questions

How long does it take to re-roof a house?

Most average semi-detached and terraced houses take around one to two weeks, depending on size, weather and whether any timbers need replacing. We give you a realistic timescale with your quote.

Do I need to move out while my roof is replaced?

No. You can stay in your home throughout. The roof is kept watertight at the end of every day, and we sheet it up if rain is forecast.

Do I need planning permission for a new roof?

Re-roofing like-for-like usually does not need planning permission. It may if you live in a listed building or conservation area, or if you change the materials or the roof shape significantly. We will flag this at the survey.

Is a new roof covered by Building Regulations?

Replacing more than 25% of a roof is normally notifiable under Building Regulations, mainly for insulation and structural loading. We will advise you on what applies to your job.

Tile or slate: which is better?

Both make excellent roofs. Concrete tiles are the most economical. Clay and natural slate cost more but last longer and suit period homes. We will show you samples and give honest advice for your property and budget.
